2020 is set to be a big year for construction in the United States. While labor challenges have slowed growth in some states, other areas of the country are booming. Here’s what to look out for in 2020…
#1 More design-build projects
Traditionally, design and build were totally separate parts of the construction process. But now it’s clear that we can save time – and money – by sourcing designers and contractors from the same company. That’s why the Contractors Licensing Schools have picked design-build as one of the breakout trends for 2020.
D-essentials is an industry leader in design-build projects. Architectural plans, construction and interior design are all handled by us, so you don’t have to worry about coordinating multiple suppliers.
#2 More modular and prefabricated construction
It’s fast, it’s affordable and it’s eco-friendly. In 2020, we expect to see a lot more modular and pre-fabricated construction projects. Unlike traditional construction, where structures are built up bit by bit, these “flat-pack” buildings can be assembled quickly and easily.
For an example of how modular construction works, have a look at our partnership with SIP Panel Systems. Their new Innova construction system saves on construction, operating and maintenance costs.
#3 Better project management
In 2020, construction will benefit from several changes in the way we work. Construction companies are taking safety seriously, and new technologies are available to protect workers. At the same time, the use of project management software, building information modelling and AI will speed up the design-build process.
#4 Sustainable construction and green technologies
Last but certainly not least: 2020 is the year that sustainable construction takes off. According to Pioneer Industries, businesses and buyers want to see green, eco-friendly developments. We’re excited to see green technologies and green buildings grow this year.
